Turkish cooking classes in Balmain

Sydney's prominent Turkish restaurant Efendy in Balmain announced a weeklong celebration of Turkish cuisine and culture this October.

Chef Somer Sivrioglu, has teamed up with a number of chefs and foodie personalities to create a week of authentically Turkish events at his restaurant Efendy. Kicking off on October 25, through to the Republic Day of October 29, the event will showcase diversity and rich range of Turkish cuisine. Live music duo Melike and Alin will accompany each evening of fine food and wine.

The events include:

  • Eggplant Dinner: (Tuesday October 25th & Wednesday October 26th)
    An eight-course sharing feast will give diners a taste of the best eggplant dishes from Turkish and Lebanese kitchens.
  • Turkish Feast with cookbook author Leanne Kitchen: (Thursday October 27th)
    Chef Somer will be teaming up with cookbook author Leanne Kitchen to present a six course Turkish feast inspired by her latest book Turkey – Recipes and Tales from the Road
  • Turkish Bakery Delights Feast with Deniz Gokturk: (Friday October 28th & Saturday October 29th)
    Chef Somer will join cookbook author Deniz Gokturk to host two special celebration dinners. The six-course feast brings together Efendy’s authentic Turkish fare with decadent breads and pastries from Gokturk’s cookbook Turkish Bakery Delight. Her book will be available at Efendy to purchase.
