Turkish Super League leader Besiktas was too good for Partizan, as the Black Eagles subdued the Serbian club 4-0 away in Group L, while Trabzonspor clinched a 2-0 home victory over Belgian club Lokeren with both goals coming in the second half of the game on Europa League match day three Thursday night.

Besiktas finally won three points following two draws in the opening games. The Eagles were impressive in Belgrade. Coach Slaven Bilic was still cautious despite the win. “We shouldn’t get carried away with this. This is only October. We have to continue like this. We have to focus,” he told the broadcaster in his post-game remarks. He added that it was a well-deserved victory.

Meanwhilee at Trabzon Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium, the Black Sea Storm wanted to win and kept up the momentum throughout the game. Trabzonspor made a total of 16 attempts on goal compared to half as many from the visiting side. Their efforts paid off in the second half as they claimed the second spot in Group L, trailing Legia by three points. Trabzonspor coach Halilhodzic only watched the game from the stands because he was banned from the bench due to his behavior during the team’s Legia match on Oct. 2.

Galatasaray lost 4-0 at home to Borussia Dortmund at Türk Telekom Arena in Sisli. Despite struggling against the odds in the domestic German Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund put on a virtuoso performance on Wednesday to wallop Gala 4-0 in game three of the UEFA Champions League Group D and this defeat will certainly increase the pressure on Galatasaray’s under-fire Italian coach Cezare Prandelli.
