A Turkish school girl from Melbourne who was about to turn 15 years old just one week prior to her death had committed suicide over uncontrollable bullying at school as well as online social networks.
Sheniz Erkan, a Taylors Lakes Secondary College student, took her own life after having suffered from school and internet bullies. Thousands of people gathered at her funeral as they grieved and spread awareness for bullying.
Her death shocked millions of people worldwide. It is reported that Sheniz did not display any strange behaviour the day of her death, as she woke up that morning with a smile on her face.
Everyone who knew Sheniz, described her personality as bubbly, and according to her soccer club president she was the "most loved soccer person in history". Her fate was set for the highest leagues: At the age of 14, she had a unique blend of commitment and talent.
These were a couple of reasons among dozens that mourners could make no sense of Sheniz' decision to commit suicide.
The Government has launched a recent website to trigger cyber bullying and help young teens stay safe online.
