Irish band U2 singer Bono, David Howell Evans "The Edge", Larry Mullen, Jr. and Adam Clayton met Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his daughter Sumeyye Erdogan in Istanbul, Turkey, Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010.

U2 is in Istanbul to give a concert on Monday 6 September. Bono and members of U2 wanted to meet Tayip Erdogan to thank Erdogan for his continuous support of humanitarian causes and ask for his support in fighting AIDS.

Bono later presented an iPod to Erdogan that contains U2 albums. Bono said although they knew Erdogan was a classical Turkish music listener, they wanted to convert him to be a U2 fan.

U2 will perform at Istanbul's Ataturk Olympic stadium on Monday as part of their 360 Degree Tour.
