Erdoğan travelled to the Russian capital in the second week of March and was received by Russian President Dmitri Medvedev before attending the forum, where he addressed almost a thousand Turkish and Russian businesspeople who had gathered to discuss trade and investment opportunities.

Following a high-level cooperation council meeting he co-chaired with Russian President Medvedev in Moscow on Wednesday, Prime Minister Erdoğan said Turkey would go ahead with its nuclear energy program despite the catastrophe and the unfolding nuclear disaster in Japan, starting first with the Akkuyu nuclear power plant that will be constructed by Russia. The nuclear power station will be the first nuclear station Russia will build outside its territories.

Georgian FM: Crossing Georgian-Turkish border to be allowed with ID card only

Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze also announced at a traditional briefing on Monday that following the legalization of a Turkey-Georgia bilateral agreement, both countries’ citizens will be able to cross the border solely on the basis of an ID card.

The two countries joined to introduce a simplified regime of border crossing which is said to already partially exist, but it does not apply to all border points.

"Both sides are interested in simplification of communications, as trade and economic relations have developed especially with Turkey, and we wish that they be further improved, " Kalandadze added.
