Galatasaray Football Academy of Australia became the first Turkish football academy in Australia.
The Academy's technical staff all come from academic backgrouns with technical director Ufuk Kubilayhan holding UEFA- B, AFC -B, AFC -C, licenses. Head coach Ahmet Uyanik has played professional football in Turkey and holds a FFA coaching license.
The schools vision is indicated as "to provide a pathway for students to obtain a scholarship to play professional football for Galatasaray Sports Club". The Academy will be monitoring Australian soccer students from all aspects of professional footballer development; training, academic support, nutrition, team management, behavior and communication.
