Top 5 Ottoman themed movies
Turkish cinema has only recently started investing in quality equipment, professional stunts and realistic cinematography. As technology and cinema technique from American and European movie ateliers became a lot more accessible, especially from late 90’s, Turkish producers managed to attract considerable number of movie-lovers to their films. In 1970s and 1980s, hundreds of movies about Ottomans were made however these were really poor in quality and cinematography. The econimical, political and social chaos the country was in was perhaps the most important factor.
We appreciate the cinema veterans Cuneyt Arkin and Serdar Gokhan for their portrayal of Ottoman characters however their movies did not make it to our top 5 list.
