Harry, Harry cool

Harry, Harry cool

Socceroo Harry Kewell became one of the most popular foreign players for his club Galatasaray’s die-hard fans. The Galatasaray fans; known for their artistic creativity in composing songs and putting on stadium shows now sing “Harry; harry Kewell” to the tune of the Boney M classic “Daddy; daddy cool”.

Although it is claimed that Liverpool fans of Kop also sang a similar song with the same tune; the fact remains still that not many foreign players made such impact in short amount of time for Gala fans – enough impact to have their name sang in songs.

Those who knew little about Australia or thought that kangaroos; dingoes and Fosters beer are the only products of Australia; now know and respect Australian soccer – or football as it is called in Turkiye. Michael Petkovic has been the goalie of 2 major Anatolian teams; Trabzon Spor and Sivasspor who currently occupy first and second positions in Turkish SuperLig and both major contenders for the title. Bruce Djite; James Troisi; Mile Jedinak all play for Genclerbirligi. The Ankara team has also hosted impressive Josip Skoko and less famous Nick Carle.

Below you can watch a video clip of Harry Kewell at Galatasaray’s Ali Sami Yen stadium.
